While I had a blast here at LiveJournal, I just wanted to let you all know that I'll be keeping everything (as I have for several months now) at Tripping Toward Lucidity, the Estella's Revenge blog.

I hope you'll stop by and see me! And I'll still be here reading up on my friends and getting my House MD fangirl fix. :)

Halloween is quickly approaching, and with the holiday comes all the costumey festivities. This year I've decided to outdo myself with the weirdness of my costume. A little backstory....

We're teaching a sequence on religion in the freshman English classes at the university this semester, so a friend of mine and my office mate got us an "Ask Me Jesus." Now, if you haven't seen the "Ask Me Jesus" anywhere, it's a foot-tall pink Jesus figurine that spits out answers like a magic 8-ball. Simply shake and you have the wisdom of the ages at your fingertips. For instance, some of Jesus' favorite words of advice are: "Watch for the lightning!" "Let me ask my dad," and, "I died for this?"

In the spirit of the quirkiness of such a bauble, I'm going to our university Halloween bash (the Edgar Allen Poe-try Reading) dressed as the Messiah himself. But not only the Messiah, a Messiah with all the answers. After I drape myself in sheets and throw on my Jesus sandals I will proceed to carry a styrofoam block with the appropriate advice attached. Anyone can ask, and I'll have all the answers.

What did you all think of the episode of House last night? I must admit to laughing my ass mostly off. This episode seemed much funnier than most of the eps as of late--and funnier than the majority of Season 2. Love that his stalker has spores in her brain. It's always something.

Also wasted away 3 hours watching the first season of Coupling yesterday. Totally worth it. Jeff's long diatribe in the "The Woman with Two Breasts" episode about collecting women's ears in a bucket almost made me pee. Yay. A new obsession!

My God, I've been away from LJ for a long time! A lot has happened since I posted last:

Wrote my Masters Comprehensive Exam (no word on the passing yet)
Joined Match.com (long story)

...ok, so maybe not that much has happened.

On the obsession fronts:

LOVING the new season of House. Very glad he's back on the cane quickly and a breakdown is on the horizon. The Zach Braff obsession continues as I work my way diligently through all five seasons of Scrubs (thank you, Netflix). I went to see The Last Kiss this weekend, and while I wasn't immediately sure what I thought, it's grown on me. It wasn't the happy-go-lucky date type movie they tried to market it as, which I think is GREAT! It went to some pretty dark places--fidelity, committment, settling down, etc. Overall, I give it 2 thumbs up and the soundtrack gets an enthusiastic 2 thumbs and 2 toes up. Amazing!

With that, I'm out. I took some sinus meds and I'm ready to pass out.

Until later....but it won't be a month this time! I have House icons to make!

Hi, I'm Andi, and I'm a Garden State addict.

It's official...I'm jumping on the Garden State/Zach Braff bandwagon. I resisted watching Garden State for ages because I didn't think it could be as good as everyone said. I resisted watching Scrubs because could Zach Braff REALLY be as good as everyone said? YES! Yes he can, damnit!

I'm not one for sappy movies lately, but while Garden State is quite sweet, it's also quite quirky and artfully shot. *loves it*

As for Zach...brilliant. And so young! And so cute with his big nose!  *gushes*

OK, gonna shut up now. Have added Zach fanlisting stuff up top. In the meantime MySpace him or go visit his wicked cool blog: http://www.zachbraff.com

I know, I know. It's been an age since I've updated. Things are nutty as a fruitcake around here, BUT I have a big announcement. [info]eiluned, [info]1stmatewenchie, and myself have opened the official Tom Hollander fanlisting!!! If you haven't a clue who Tom is, you need to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest to see him as that asshat, Beckett. If you want to see him in an even more smashing role, rent or add Bedrooms & Hallways to your Netflix queue. He plays the gay guy that every girls wants as her best friend (and I always want to steal his "Hell" t-shirt).

In the meantime, go check out the fanlisting (and join!) because [info]eiluned, did an amazing job!

Got up at 6:15 to go running before it gets really hot outside. Lasted a decent amount of time before my ankle started SCREAMING at me. Hardcore workout plan, phase 1 is going nicely. Next up: lean meats and green veggies.

Direct your eyes  to the top of ze livejournal and you shallf notice a dramatic increase in the icons under "Obsessive Fannish Goodness." Why? Because I've become obsessed with a bunch of new stuff since I started this journal. Or, actually, I've just found the fanlistings for a bunch more stuff since then if truth be told. Peruse and enjoy, my lovelies.

In the meantime I'll be doing research in preparation for teaching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory next week.

Edit: SO many smutty fic updates on my flist today! Thank heavens!

New fandom!!!!! I'm the last person on earth to see Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. To prove it, I actually saw Dead Man's Chest first. Then I was finally inspired (after how many years? three?) to see the first one. I never thought Johnny Depp particularly attractive until now. Talented? Most certainly. Hot. Not til now. And it took a flamboyant pirate to finally do it for me. It could be the eyeliner. I'm in agreement with [info]eiluned that a threesome is most certainly the only way to resolve the issues presented in these films. Will be hunting for icons.....NOW.

Also heartbroken that I didn't get my weekly dose of House this week due to some baseball all-star crap. Not a good excuse for no House, in my opinion.

Icons still in the works! I haven't forgotten!

sexy beast

I've been a horrible livejournaler lately! What can I say? I've been in the pool most days, not to mention reading for my thesis and comps as well as the summer II class, AND I've gotten new bookshelves and we've had house things done (trim painted, deck treated, roof repairs, and carpet cleaned).

Now, back to that reading. I read three books today alone, which is probably a new record. I finished....

Mary Poppins (rated: Meh)
Summer Blonde, by Adrian Tomine (two thumbs up)
Black Hole, by Charles Burns (two enthusiastic thumbs up)

I *heart* comix.

The fourth issue of Estella's Revenge is online! Click the pic to check out the "Freedom" issue!

Will most likely have a new batch of House icons up and rolling in the next few days. Might throw in some Fables, too.

I posted about this on my blog, but wanted to share here too, since it might be of interest to some of you on my friends list (who don't already know). I'm going to have a review of the Fables series coming out in an academic journal!!! I won't mention which one here, but if you wanna know, e-mail or message me. I'm REALLYYYYY excited. So much so that I snapped up Homelands off my stacks and started reading today. The only thing that irks me HORRIBLY about this series is the ever-changing style of the drawings. It really itches my craw, but it's to be expected I suppose with team-produced comics.

*happy dance for publications*

You scored as Wolverine. Wolverine is a loner, and a skilled fighter. He's got the hots for Jean Grey but a better fit for him would be Storm. He doesn't like to follow orders which pisses Cyclops off. He has terrible memories from the experimentation done on him at Weapon X. Even though he doesn't show it, he loves the X-Men. Powers: Fast healing and adamantium skeleton and claws.

Tagged by [info]eiluned:

Once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog with six random facts about yourself. In the end you need to choose six people to be tagged and list their names.

1. I've been fighting serious bouts of depression since I was 9.

2. I've broken both of my ankles multiple times.

3. I want a tattoo, but so far my committment issues have won out over the desire to be inked.

4. I love bald heads and sizeable noses.

5. I'm in the midst of a crisis of faith.

6. My toenails are currently painted a pinkish chrome'ish color (Sally Hansen).

I tag the following!

[info]lit_magnet, [info]badbh and anyone else who feels like giving it a go!

Work is a dragggg today. Not that it isn't always a drag, but I'd much rather be in the pool toasting myself to brownish perfection. As it is, I remain paste-like.

On my mind: Jared Leto's eyeliner. Must find more 30 Secs to Mars pics. I have quite a few to start some icons with, but I need MOOOORE! And I'm working on finding some more Majorette pics as well. If only the band would hurry up and explode on the scene, so more people would know who they are and they would post more pics, you see. *sigh*

Have been downloading brushes like a rabid badger (if badgers could download brushes). Thanks to [info]eiluned for pointing me toward some wicked-fabulous brush makers (credited in my info).

So, Tuesday when I taught this English class one of my students made an "off" remark to me. Something to the effect of "if you wanted to spend time with me you could've just asked" when I called him up to conference about his paper. Made me wanna vomit. Vomit I tell you. He must be punished. Preferably by the universe and not by me.

I'm bored, people. Comment, quick! Before I have to go to class.
